Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat is one of the premier technical institutions in India, established in 1961 as a Regional Engineering College. It was granted the status of National Institute of Technology (NIT) in 2002 and has been declared an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India.
